I'm interested that you're having swimming lessons in the Shaw method. When I started to swim after breaking my ankle, I discovered "Swimming without Stress - Lessons for Land Lovers" by Ian Cross which is based on the Shaw method. I found it really helpful for getting me swimming back stroke (& putting my head in the water) & then the guidance on breaststroke & front crawl has been helpful, although I needed swimming lessons to learn to swim again. I'm still using the front crawl guidance to try to swim more than 2 lengths of front crawl at a time.
