Sounds like the name of an album from some famous artist - but that´s the number of parallell tracks on the starting field at Sälen. They mentioned on TV that the length of these tracks up to the first uphill is totalling basically the same length as the whole Vasaloppet course to Mora!!
PS. Promising start to your write-up. Eagerly awaiting the rest of the story...
For a beginning, I am glad you survived!
I totally understand the feeling of suddenly realizing you're nervous - and then realizing that means you care about the outcome. It's a hair-raising sort of moment.
Can't wait for part 2!
Great writeup! I'm looking forward to the second part.
I was browsing through old attackpoint event data, and I thought
this was hilarious.
That is an awesome place to stop part 2...
I just hope Boris doesn't croak after only writing 3 of 10 parts. I'll be pissed.
If we can just get him safely back to New Haven on Thursday, I'll chain him to his desk to get it done! ;) Welcome home Boris!
Thanks so much for the rest of the story, Boris! What an amazing experience.
I didn't grasp the full sense of just HOW MANY people you were skiing with the whole time until I saw the finish line vid. Unfathomable really. Great work!!
Great write-up - showing the true spirits of a real Vasaloppet competitor.
I haven´t done this myself (yet?) but as I did Marcialonga earlier this winter I recognize most of the feelings (including the pain in the elbow, luckily with only 1 km to go in my case).
well done mate!! great write up!!
Great job and great write-up! Your clubmate was full of crap. Oh, and while you were skiing all the american boys have been training and you won't make the US team, and when you do make the team, your training will be so abysmal you'll do crap at WOC.
Let's see how that works.
Wow! Great write-up... I really enjoyed the ordeal of Vasaloppet and was not a just little bit jealous when I heard you were going to do it... I had considered it, but didn't feel like I had trained enough. But next year... hmmm... your write-up was truly inspiring. I would love to join you in making plans for both training and competition!
Congratulations on finishing in good time! Start certainly is frustrating -- took me 70 min for the first 5 km, and then it loosened up a little. But that's what happens in wave 13! You could do really well if you just get some ski training in.
Awesome report Boris probably my all time favorite attackpoint story and congrats on a great effort.
What a great report! Thanks for sharing on Attackpoint!
Loved the report, thanks so much for posting it. Great firsthand info for those of us thinking of doing the race.
