Hope I'm not using up my years quota of comments, but just wanted to chime in. I find ice pellets very welcome, since they tend to slither off whereas in their molten state (freezing rain) they tend to find ways to insinuate themselves past your defenses. Freezing rain has been my anathema also, (for whom wouldn't it be?) but it has not bothered me lately. Maybe the gear is finally right. Or the distances have been short. or the rain not too heavy. Not sure i would be able to use the word 'oddly pleasant' as you did in your previous post, but perhaps something approaching that.

I think it's Climate Change. We're getting more freezing rain and ice in Chicago than we used to; perhaps St Louis is getting....Memphis' weather?

And as COv2 continues to build up, you'll soon be seeing palm trees, Spanish moss and tropical storms. And Waterfall Glen vegetation will look more like Cuiver River.

I'm certainly not arguing that we're not experiencing climate change, but I don't think a late March winter storm offers much in the way of evidence. This really isn't that odd. As for the ice pellets, yes, I would generally prefer them to freezing rain, but with the headwind, they were really stinging my face when I ran. I think that would have been a lot worse on the bike.
