Discussion: Informal training before Team Trials

in: US Team Trials for WOC '11 (May 28–30, 2011 - Peekskill, NY, US)

Is there anyone out there who would fancy a self help style training camp the week before team trials? I'm thinking especially College age types aiming more at JWOC who will be finished by then. While I won't be able to go on more than a day of such training myself, I'd be happy to plan courses in WCOC land and have people stay at my place. Canadians welcome too! Let me know if you'd be interested in such a thing.

Any news of the Team Trials? Schedule, terrain descriptions, registration info?

The sprint on Saturday is at SUNY Purchase, a few km east of White Plains, NY. Google-maps for terrain description, but it's a semi-urban college campus and will be fun (says the course-setter).

Blue Mountain is Blue Mountain, mostly deciduous forest with some dead pines, lots of small, steep, one or two contour hills, some larger ones, and a fair amount of rock. Currently very runnable. Many of the fallen pines have rotten through, leaving the forest more open than it was a few years back. It is a fantastic area.

The sprint on Saturday May 28th starts at around 14:30, and last start will be before 16:00. Long on the Sunday and Middle on the Monday , not sure about times.

I imagine registration info will be up in the next week or two (hint hint).

If you are hesitating about whether to come: Do! It will be worth it.

Cjross - you mean it's not worth the trip from France? I am disappointed :p

Jordan, Ali, Boris (should have known :p), good start. Anyone else? Definitely not asking for commitment now, just potential interest.

I'll say Andrew and Ethan though they don't know about it yet and I don't know their schedule.

Ok, well, I'm not disappointed I'm in France, but it would be nice to be able to do everything!

There is a decent chance nate would be interested. He finishes school just before the Billygoat and will have to cram for JWOC (assuming he hangs on to a spot).

Alrighty, this is looking possible. Keep talking if you're interested, and I will start thinking about plans.

Sprint terrain @ Purchase:
University campus, fairly flat parkland with open lawn, car parks, some woods and scattered buildings and numerous sculptures, and a central, mostly paved area with a cluster of densely packed, large buildings with stairs, passages and whatnot. Runnability is good to excellent for the most part.

It seems like there will be an event in Saxon Woods on May 22nd, a few miles south of White Plains. This is probably the map most relevant to Blue Mountain in the neighbourhood, and could be a good way to start the week.
