So Purchase hosts the Neuberger Museum of Art. There are several exhibitions, one which just opened is a highly regarded and pretty funky Mexican artist, if the car outside is anything to go by. I'll try to get a picture next time I'm out.

Anyway, the museum closes at 5pm. Non-TT runners [edit - Non Red/Blue runners] could visit before their race, but if there is a lot of interest I could see whether they would stay open a little longer. I met a lady outside who may have some power and was interested in getting people to visit.

Entrance is 5$ for adults, 3$ for students and the old, free for M/W12.

So just two then, or are ye representative of the broader community? ;)

There are also the Pepsico sculpture gardens across the road (suitable for Red/Blue runners before entering quarantine!)

I have tried the pub food in the mentioned Cobble Stone, once, and it was reasonably good, although I wasn't trying to carbo-load for a long.

I'd be interested, just not sure when I'd be finished with results.

I don't think it's open past midnight, so you might be better going early ;)

I don't know about the broader community but I'd be interested.

Interested in the pub food. Could be swayed to be cultural, too.

That all sounds like a very nice day, I'm interested if we can get the lodging straightened out so that I can still volunteer to help and run a sprint and middle distance course. I can't afford to pay hotel/motel rates to volunteer, sorry.

If you see one of these guys out on the course, beware.

Putting a bucket on your head won't protect you.

It's not that he himself is dangerous, it's that he could call his big brother...

... and if he does you are in trouble. Running away is a good idea.

Remember, orienteering is foot orienteering so don't break the rules...

... or risk being smitten down...

I did a quick tour of the Neuberger too, while on campus today. The car above is one of Betsabée Romero's creations. The whole way through her exhibit inside I was smiling at the beauty and the playfulness and the occasional poignancy. It's amazing what you can do with tyres and chewing gum, VW fenders, packing tape and a cactus.

There's also a cool exhibit of African/Cameroon art and upstairs is the permanent collection of modern American art, a small, good quality cross-section of work.

Quarantine should be in the museum!

I'm not entirely sure about the first one not being dangerous...

God Andrew, when you join a conversation late, you should go through the earlier posts...

Go on, Boris. Chop his head off!

Ali, do you think it'd be safer inside?

AliC:
Hmm, true, beauty, playfulness & poignancy could be pretty darn dangerous esp when armed with a cactus. =) Will just have to run fast!

Andrew's version has more context.

"Hi Neil!

OK, the good news is that we won't charge your group an entrance fee if they come at 4:00 PM or later! Just ask your group to announce themselves at the front desk as the Hudson Valley Orienteers. Unfortunately, we won't have a docent available that Saturday to give a tour of the exhibitions. However, if anyone from your group is interested in membership and/or a tour of the current exhibitions, give them my contact info and I will be more than happy to set something up for them. Does all this work for you?"

Oh, and I asked about colourful running attire, no objections ;)
