The standings have been updated through the West Point sprint. In addition, 4 more sprints have been added to the schedule, including a 40-point doubleheader at the Delaware Water Gap on Monday of Memorial Day weekend (with a regular meet on Sunday, advanced courses only, proceeds to benefit the Team).

Thanks to Boris for the number crunching!

The standings are now updated through Wednesday's CSU and GHO sprints. And today starts the busiest weekend of sprinting yet, at the WCOC meet in Derby, CT (where the Commissioner is heading shortly). Tomorrow there are 6 sprints, including one at the Guelph Gaotrs A meet in Ontario, a NEOC sprint at Hale Reservation, an EMPO doubleheader near Albany, and an OCIN doubleheader at East Fork Dam (where the Team Trials were held last month.

Boris may be up late doing the numbers....

Jon Torrance won the sprint at today's Gator Cup.
2.5 km in 10.59 !! The race was held on a portion of the 1985 World Masters Games map that hasn't been used for competition since that race. Thanks to the Gators club for hosting this FREE sprint!

They don't seem to include all of the sprints from last weekend :?

What about including the NavStock sprint? Is that allowed, Great Commisioner?

Navstock (baby!) sprint is already on the schedule. Its the one sponsored by AxisGear, June 25. Peace, Love and O.

In all humbleness, not realizing I am now a Great Commissioner, it's already on the schedule (as a 40-pointer) under its official name -- 3nd Annual Axis Gear Sprint Orienteering Challenge. Got to acknowledge the sponsors when we're lucky enough to have them!

I think the latest standings include all the sprints so far, but if you notice any errors, please email me.

Hmm, Ottawa looks very tempting, but I think i'll have to pass.

Thanks Boris! You definitely deserve some cookies, or maybe just a long weekend. Are you going to be at the DVOA sprint then?

Wow it's getting tough to get more points on top. Ken W. & Boris's worst scores are such that winning a 30pt sprint won't help (although it might help keep rivals one point further back...) If John F. wins Green Lane, he'll gain 1 point and also join the 30pt minimum team, although I'm sure Clem & Vadim will try to make sure that doesn't happen. Earlier this year I was thinking it would take ~240 points to make it into the top 8 - it now looks like the question is just _how much_ more than 8 local Sprint wins (8x30 points) it will take to make the top 8 overall...

Wyatt, you could try to get the Great Commish to change the points to 40 for Green Lane, and get both runs to count... Hey, he might even drive down for that!

Or, the GC could arbitrarily change how the rankings are figured to make it more exciting, or at least more feasible for others to catch up. It is all arbitrary, is it not?

Nice try, JDW, except that I believe the Great Commish is going to Ottawa where the points are already set at 40 (*2) this weekend.

The Great Commish is in fact in Cornwall, Ontario, not too far from Ottawa, resting up for what he hopes will be a thin field for tomorrow's 40-point doubleheader.

The latest standings are posted.

On the schedule for this weekend is a 40-point doubleheader at the Delaware Water Gap where a strong field is expected and the sprints will be "forest" sprints rather than "park" sprints.

And some late entries I received last night will up the ante a bit...

In conection to Wyatt remarks on what one would need to score to get in the top 8 ( A final), and also to the attention of the GC, plus open for disscution to everyone, is the fact that # 8 for the series final might eliminate some serious contenders depending on circumstances and on whom will actualy sign up(show) at the finals. As of now if at least half of the top 40 will express that they will participate in the finals, I believe that the # people per series finals, it will have to go up.It looks to me now that 12 or even 16 is possible and more interesting if enough people show up.So far it looks like the people are highly intersted and pleased so far with the sprint series so I would be on the optimistic side in expecting big numbers at the finals.
