My car read 102 today, plus...the usual humidity down here. I may take up "studying" at the pool.

How far up over 100 are you?

LW--to get in my runs, I tried to do at dusk or dawn when my schedule allowed.

The other trick I stumbled into for when I had to run otherwise was to "pre-soak" my Tshirt--literally putting it in the sink and making it sopping wet just before stepping outside to run. The "swamp cooler" effect allowed me to do about 20 minutes of hard running (even used it for intervals smack dab in the middle of a July day) before it was done evaporating and keeping me cool--if I needed to go significantly longer, I would carry water to re-wet myself or shirt since you just can't sweat enough to keep yourself cool there...all this presumes good, normal hydration.

I also quickly abandoned my normal running shoes and got some fairly hefty trail shoes via internet/mail--I found the FOB gravel to be a killer otherwise...

It's not too bad yet...it hits high 90s with an index over 100 each day here -- supposedly it'll get up to 120 at some point in the summer. The runs really aren't that bad if I'm hydrated pretty well. I think 30-40 minutes is probably the max of what I can do during the day and still be fairly effective around here.

Honestly, I think the worst part is the abysmal air quailty around here -- burning trash, septic, etc. And I think AFG just stinks anyways.

Yeah, we had a huge incinerator pit on the far side of my airfield run (10 miler). Depending on which way the wind was blowing, I couldn't make that run.

120 degrees is quite an experience. I find that having lived through that, the 90+ weather here (even with the humidity) really isn't a big deal. Then again, I was working in an air conditioned facility...can't really complain, not the same life the grunts were living out in their tiny little FOBs.
