I'd say its a lot about time on your feet as much as pace.
40km per week would build up the leg muscles while the work on the bike would work the heart and lungs...
Living somewhere warm and sunny would just make you soft ;)
Thats true Chill...I love the feel of blinding rain on my cheeks and numb toes as i remove my bog soaked sox!!
I guess 40km a week would be a help - my legs were a bit stiff this morning...no pain no gain ;)
