OK, so you haven't met your targets, but you are managing to do more each day, which is a good start. Keep at it and you'll get there.

CJ, you just have to do it. The more you do each day, the quicker you will attain freedom. Sit at your desk. Work for an hour. When you want that first snack break, say no. Set yourself goals, and do not move from that seat till they're done. Reward yourself only when they are achieved. When you feel like you never want to look at Enzyme 4 again, look at it for another 6 hours and get that bit finished!

This is only the start of your career. It doesn't have to be perfect, it doesn't have to review every paper ever, every graph does not have to be the perfect shade of light blue which constrasts nicely with the lettering on the axis, the spacing on diagram C does not have to be absolutely equal to 3 significant figures...it just has to be finished. Because then you will be awesome Doctor CJ and you can get an exciting new job and you will no longer have to live in your pyjamas. DO IT!

Thanks guys, I think I just need to imagine Becks nagging me every time I try to take a break! You got me spot on with the figures though, they are all beautifully consistent.

Memories of last year come flooding back... Go on CJ, it's so so so much nicer when the thing is done and dusted :)
