host them elsewhere - Picasa, Flickr, Facebook etc, then just put the appropriate html code in your log entry... I'd post an example, but it would just show the image, not the HTML. A quick google search for basic image embedding HTML code should do it..

O Steve!:
ok...I am using Picasa but I only see this as a marker for the photo:

https://picasaweb.google.com/112417892855080764684...

and that is what shows on the log not the actual photo when I cut and paste...I assume this is not the HTML code....how do I find the HTML for the photo using Picasa?

Sandy:
html code:
< img width=400 src="Properties Location of Image.jpg" alt="Caption Text" >

Take out the spaces right after and right before the first and last < >. and the code will work. The way to find the Properties Location of Image.jpg is to right click on the image on the website and select "Properties" The window that comes up will give you an image location. Copy that between the quotes. Keep the quote marks.

The Caption Text you can use to describe the Image a little.

(Copied from a similar thread from a few years ago that I saved.)

The easy way to do it with Picasa is to go to the page for the picture you want, then look in the column on the right side of the page - there should be a little link labeled "Link to this photo". Clicking on that will give you the HTML you need to link to and/or embed the picture on your page - toggle the various options, then just cut and paste into your log.

In Picasa, if you click on the photo (and you, the owner are logged in), there will be a thing in the right-hand column of the screen that says "Link to this photo". Click on that, and it will give you text for "Link", and "Embed image". Select the size you want (400 is a reasonable choice for Attackpoint), then copy the embed text and paste it into Attackpoint. If this doesn't work, you may need to go up to the folder, select "Actions->AlbumProperties", and change the visibility (to "Public on the web").

(looks like arthurd beat me to it!)

I can't get a picture from Google+, which I guess is the new name for Picasa Web, to show up in my log. I uploaded a photo to Google+, right clicked on the photo, chose copy link, and then pasted it into the format described above. < img width=400 src="https://plus.google.com/photos/111236598919827871702/albums/5940208879660591041"
"Caption Text" >
without the spaces before and after the < and > signs. However, when I click submit, a square box without the photo appears with a question mark inside of it. I assume it is because the link is encrypted with an https but am not sure. Is Google+ the website to use to store a photo, or what is the best way to add a photo to the log?

Still seems to be called Picasa to me (picasaweb.google.com). In any case, I click the "Image only" box and take the text from the "Embed image" box (after selecting the size I want), and use
<img src = "the text from Embed image">
Like so:
<img src = "https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-JgECbgQCbAM/UgG8UgWTypI/AAAAAAAADM0/6HzhMlnJpLs/s800/HogsBack2.jpg">

Yours doesn't work for me, but I think that may be because right-clicking and choosing Copy doesn't give the correct link format.

Ah, I got it. Left-click on the picture first, Evan, and then right click and choose CopyLinkLocation. That will give you:
which works:

Any way to do this from Flickr? (experimenting to see if it works...)

Yes, from Flickr...

1. click on the photo so it is displayed alone
2. click on the bottom right part of the page, on the "more ways to share" icon (a square with an arrow coming out of it)
3. press the "Grab the HTML/BBCode" bit
4. cut/paste the html code into your post

IMO Flickr is much easier than Picasa, especially if you have a Google+ account.
Haven't figured out how to get the embed info from the Flickr app on my iPhone. Seems I still need a PC for that. Would be cool to be able to uplink immediately.

Thanks, JJ. I got it to work.
BTW, when I clicked on the link, picasaweb.google.com, it changed to plus.ggole.com.

I think the picasaweb interface is only available to those not logged in to Google, or at least to those not logged in to an account that has set up a Google+ account. Picasa is clearly on the way out.

It is but at the moment if you don't want to use Google+, you can opt out. I accidentally got converted to a Google+ account and hated the disorganized new photo interface. I went into the settings and got rid of Google+, which returned me to the old Picasa. (Until then, the link was changing automatically, as Evancuster noted.) I also use GMail and other Google tools, and nothing else was affected.

Like feet, I suspect Picasa is on its way out but it can't hurt if a bunch of us complain about the new interface.

I did the same as Bash - though I did intentionally sign up thinking it was the next great thing. That was a very short lived thought as could not get it to cooperate. Closed the account. On the other hand, have tried to find an app for Picasa at the App Store with no success. And very disgruntled with the store in general to find useable programs.
