There are almost 100 registered already for the Barebones Party Weekend Sept 16, 17, 18 in Banff

Barebones this year will also be the Alberta Champs so we hope to see a great turn out, especially from the juniors who will have three chances to earn Alberta Champion medals – in each of the Middle, Sprint, and Long distance races.

The Long distance race (Sunday morning) on the brand new version of the Bow Valley Provincial Park map will be a Canada Cup race, giving adults a chance to earn Canada Cup Challenge points, and for those running in M/W21 to earn Canada Cup Elite Series points (and pull FWOC up a little bit in the national club rankings).

The Middle distance race (Saturday morning) is starting / finishing at beautiful Rafter Six Ranch and is followed by a bbq lunch.

The Sprint race (Saturday afternoon) takes place at the Banff Centre and will be the "Cherry On Top" for most people as not only is the terrain fantastic for sprint orienteering, but also the Calgary Philharmonic will be playing a live outdoor concert at the new Shaw Amphitheatre in the middle of campus during the race! Following the race there will be swimming & sauna on the Banff Centre campus and then an evening meal at the Vistas dining room on campus.

Friday evening will be a casual fun urban trivia style event in the town of Canmore.

Accommodation options are either group camping in Bow Valley Provincial Park, or hotel room on the Banff Centre campus. To be allowed to hold the race on campus we are committed to having at least 10 rooms booked at the Banff Centre, so please consider staying there. Your room rate ($157 including all taxes) includes access to two to the swimming pools and free parking. And of course it is amazingly convenient for the Sprint event and the following dinner.

BOOKING AT THE BANFF CENTRE
It is a bit confusing and it might be easiest to phone them up rather than use the online booking form!

If you click on the Group Name: Foothills Wanderers Orienteering Clubs it will bring on the online reservation page.
When booking online, select only "1 Adult" and the appropriate number of "non-delegates"

To book by phone call 1.800.884.7574. The reservation is under the club name. And just in case you can also provide them with the Group Access ID, which is: 22797

For those who don't want to make the trip out west for those upscale Barebones there will be a really bare bones ROGAINE and orienteering B-meet near Ottawa on Sept 18th. See: http://www.synergyark.com/MadTrapperRogaine.html
We have reached half the alloted entries for the ROGAINE but have unlimited room in the B-meet.
On site camping - including in two genuine teepees (tipi's?) - is available on a first requested, first served basis.
