Will there be English language information? From trying to puzzle out the website, it appears that there will be info starting on September 1, but my Italian is less than rudimentary. It also looks like this may be a two day affair, but I wasn't sure.

The event will take place in the days Nov 12 and 13.
The activation of the website and start of registration is on Sept 1, 2011.

In November, Venice welcomes orienteerers from all over the world for the Orienteering Meet (MOV). Here, you will find all the information for the next meet; here you can register to MOV; here you can find the history of MOV and other orienteering activities in the Venetian province.

I love this race. But it is organized by Italians ;-) Here is an excerpt from my story about the race that I wrote in 2005. Sounds like not much is changed...

"If you go beware
that it is organized “Italian style”. So it will be quite hard to get information
until quite late – you must first search to find out the date of the race and
then book your trip and patiently wait for event information and registration to
appear on their website (www.orivenezia.it). Eventually, in Italian time, all will
work out and you will enjoy a most fantastic experience."

Charlie, Beatrice has run this multiple times, including last year, or in 2009, when she posted her map and routes. She may have some useful info to share. After visiting Venice in 2009, I've been dreaming about orienteering there. It would have to be a blast!

It sounds strange because that part of Venice is not so interesting for orienteering...

I wonder if perhaps that's the only part of Venice that could reasonably be cleared of passage-way blocking Venecians?

@Cristina: probably you are right, you can see from the maps in that part of Venice streets are wider. Here's something might interest someone... http://www.alessiotenani.it/pagine/Venice_2006.htm

I see the website has been updated. Does anybody know what it says? Is there likely to be an old or blank map available?

Entries are now open. There's some discussion on the uk orienteering forum, forum.nopesport.com. If you ask I'm sure someone has a link to an old map (one of our club planned a few years ago)
