blairtrewin: 48 yesterday (maybe even 49 - the highest hourly reading I saw was 47.8 but I haven't seen the maximum yet).

As for the forecast, it was one of those situations where it was fairly obvious there was going to be really hot air not too far inland, but it was less clear whether or not the northerlies would be strong enough to bring it out to the coast. In the end they weren't all that strong - Thursday was the hot day and it only got to 32.

Bomb: Wednesday was stinking hot here - got to 40 at my place, and the storms in the afternoon didn't seem to cool things down at all - just made it more revoltingly humid.
