Discussion: Garmin 305 not working

Anyone have any ideas what to do to fix a problem with my Garmin 305 upload?

On one computer my 305 will not upload via Garmin Training Centre or AP. I have removed the TC and USB drivers and reinstalled with the latest version. When I attach the 305 via the cradle the system sees the garmin and opens the Training Centre but receive from device gives an error "problem communicating with device, make sure it is connected and try again"

The same 305 works on three other computers just fine, so the device and cable are fine. The USB port works fine for other devices e.g. mouse back up hard drive

Any ideas welcome

Reset the watch? (Download your data on another computer first, just in case)

I get that occasionally, and randomly - but infrequently enough that I haven't applied any methodical thinking. Usually it fixes itself with a small amount random flailing before I get pissed off enough to actually solve it. I've never had to uninstall training center or the USB drivers, or hard reset the watch, but I've unplugged/replugged the cradle, removed/reseated the watch, tried a different USB port, turned the watch off and/or on, closed and reopened training center - and even let training center finally upgrade. Sometimes it'll take 3-4 times, but it's never been terminal.

it might help to delete old session summaries from the watch (History > Running > Delete > Keep 1 month).

one of the 2 computer i used need it some more microsoft updates, its ok now
