Ratlaf: Nope! Ligaments definitely take a long time to heal, the only tissue that I know of that takes longer is cartellidge(?) Correct me if I'm wrong.

Swisscheese: Have you experienced ankle troubles? I wonder how much I should go to the limit and not care when it aches.

Ratlaf: I have! In the past three months I've twisted my ankle fairly seriously TWICE! The second time was in the exact same way as the first. I hadn't treated the first injury properly making it more suceptible to re-injury. Which is exactly what happened.

Neither one was as bad as yours but it was enough to keep me from running for at least a week, and I can still feel that my ankle isn't fully recovered yet, even though I can run on it without too much caution. I'm still wary of running in O terrain with it for at least another month.

Both Sandra and my mom told me that when ligaments are injured like that, they can take at least 3-6 months to completely heal!!! Sometime longer... I believe them now because I can feel it in my akle. I've been doing stretches and strengthening excercises, and will continue to wear a brace until it feels completely healthy again...

As far as pushing the limits, idontknow, I'd think it depends on how it aches, if it's sharp shooting pain, if there's any stiffness...basically what is your body is telling you. Sandra would probably be able to answer this better than I would.

Swisscheese: Oppla, recurent problems, that is exactly what I am the most afraid of. Seems quite bad for you.

Interestingly, my PT told me, that I shouldn't use braces or tape. I couldn't believe it, but he said that because I haven't loaded the joint early on it is quite stiff... actually too stiff.

I think I will build up my running even if it still aches. But i will be cautious that from one day to another it won't get worse.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me!
