Jerritt: An outdoorsy guy like you would never swim inside. This must have been in the St. Croix.

iriharding: i saw a whole load of canada geese at Lake Elmo (main lake) last week enjoying all the open water there ... was rather envious. It was on my way to a lunch (on 3M) at the Lake Elmo inn. I almost went straight home after the lunch to get my kayak.and /or swimming stuff...... but knuckled down to an afternoon of meetings and work stuff instead.

Jerritt: When I went out there to vet last week, I asked about ice conditions. the women said that there was no ice on Lake Elmo BECAUSE of the geese. I was a little skeptical, but I asked someone else and he said that the geese can definitely keep open water from freezing, because they keep it moving. Still a little skeptical, but I guess I can buy that.

If you are looking for a chance to play hookie, maybe one day this week or next you can sneak out early for an afternoon workout. I get done with work about 2. Could be done as early as 1:30 if I had a reason.

iriharding: FYI....Lake Elmo is a really deep lake and always takes a while to freeze.
Play Hookie... no chance this week ... just got done with an all day meeting here in Augusta that went from 8 am to 7:45 pm, another session on Wed til I have to get 8 pm flight back to MSP. Thursday and Friday look long days too. Maybe next week ?
