is there any literature or info on line that could guide me on how to approach a park manager or board of a nature preserve, to get them to give my club permission to map their land for orienteering?

I don't think you'll run into many problems trying to map places. It's using the map that will run into resistance.

I've put together a 3-page document intended to introduce orienteering to land managers; just let me know where to email it.
