Does "8 criss-crosses" mean 8 climbs or 16 climbs? Do you break these up into sets with recovery in between, or just hit them all full-speed in a row until you're done?
After setting up base camp on the west flank of Mt. Clay Terrace, I take the notoriously steep, dangerous and avalanche-prone western route to the summit, then without pausing, I descend along the ridge down the eastern side. At the bottom, I continue back along the base to the foot of the southern route and take that to the summit, followed by a descent down the north face. Then I proceed back around to base camp, and all that counts as one criss cross.
My sherpas think I'm tempting the wrath of the mountain will all this criss crossing, but...you know....it's there.
Recently I've been doing 2 sets of 4 criss crosses, with recovery between sets, which adds up to 16 climbs.
