KS Champs Meet Notes
Park at the Spencer Art Museum (see map on website)
Registration is on the 4th floor of the KU Union (across the street from the art museum)
Champs course is 3K, all on campus. No woods.
The beginners course will be a one hour score event.
Warm up allowed any where north of the union
Start and finish will be just outside the 4th floor of the union (on Jayhawk Blvd)
Clothes may be left at the registration table (at your own risk. No valuables please)
Awards ceremony will be inside the union :)
While you're in Lawrence, you might drop by Sunflower Outdoor store in downtown Lawrence (near the corner of 8th and Mass). Sunflower sponsored some prizes for the event. Sunflower is also a great place to load up on some energy gels for the Possum Trot.
Yay Sunflower!
While you're at it, head a block north to Free State Brewery for some mighty fine beer. Though, it could be crowded because it's a BIG game day.
Mark "MOOK" Everett was the first finisher in 19:54. Probably a lock for the KS Champs title, but will his time hold up for the overall win??
Way to go MOOK! Gotta love seeing a Jayhawk in 1st place! Rock Chalk!
(How is traffic, by the way, since the big game tips off in just 15 minutes?)
Erin Binder (Linear Ice) has the faster women's time of 30:51. But the women's KS Champ title will probably go to Madelaine Gogol.
Class winners: Justin Baken, Melissa Kelly, Erin Binder and Mark Everett.
KS Champs: Madelaine Gogol, Nancy Neuburger, Fletcher Hamel and Mark Everett.
Thanks to all who came ; we set a record for attendance at this event. And we had a (edit) 23% increase in starts for this year over last!
Thanks to all the great OKers who worked on this event.
Thanks for a great race. Lots of quick decision making, and fun deciphering all the passageways staircases and uncross able features. Everything an urban sprint should be!
