Discussion: That's a good excuse

Bash: At least I'll buy it!

Will you be doing AR in contact lenses? 'Bent has become an expert on that. Without glasses or contacts, he can't tell the trees from his teammates. It's embarrassing when he tries to tow a balsam fir.

Slice: I won't need glasses for racing. I have astigmatism which means that it's not near or far-sightedness, parts of things just seem randomly out of focus. My prescription is "very mild" , as the doctor put it, and I will be able to do without. I'll just wear them for school and driving. However, if I find that I tend to fall down less when I have my glasses on, my bones might thank me for wearing them more often, especially while riding!!

Bash: That's not too bad then. Can you see out of your other eye yet?

I'm expecting to get glasses within the next couple of months for super-close-up tasks like threading a needle. No rush, since I don't do that very often!

'Bent: I am so-o-o jealous of you clear-vision types.
My eyes tend to be dry, so conctacts are a PITA on overnight or multi-day events.
Especially for orienteering, I need both close focus for maps and far vision, and had to play around a lot until I got 2 different bi-focal contacts, one eye for reading and one for distance.

Slice: I have to admit that I had to think about that PITA thing longer than I should have. I was trying to figure out if you meant that they get dry like stale pita bread.
Anyway, my eye is better today, but unfortunately my hair is still blonde! :)

Bash: Don't worry - at least you wouldn't spell it "conctacts", he he.

'Bent: I couldn't spell check my posting as my contact lens felt like a stale pita. Actually, an apt description. My hair's getting closer to blonde every day.

Leanimal: Hah just got the PITA thing and it only took me a minute or so (my hair does get a lot darker in the winter though so that might help).

Slice welcome to the world of the visually impaired. Yeah my doc told me mine was a light prescription too but now I seem to need them all the time. I will have to discuss the contacts in races with Bent because it's really hard to bushwhack and try to keep up with teammates like Slice when you have a map pressed against your face.

Bash: I got the PITA thing right away, so I guess the truth is out. Any blonde hair I might have, I've paid for.
