Have a great Christmas!!! Looking forward to some great skiing with you guys in the new year. I got some XC ski gear now so I might give the tracks in Revy a chance sometime.

Merry x-mas to you too. Would love to hear about Carlyle. Did you get skate or classic?

Carlyle was great as always! With new owners it was a little different. We didn't get any weather or avalanche condition updates so we had to rely on our own observations throughout our stay there. They didn't even have a snow stick up yet, but I think they are planning on setting one up. The lodge was also a bit messier than I remember. Clutter was sitting in a lot of communal areas and a few things were broken and seem to have just been left that way. The new owner is really nice though and we had a great time. he has made a few changes, such as added a wood burning stove in the sitting room and also added a new bedroom. he also has a snowblower up there so they can clear snow on the roof much quicker. One of the days we found a slope very close to the lodge on Misty shoulder with awesome snow, a steep pitch and perfect snow line. It was short so we had just planned to ski it once, but we ended up skiing until there were no more lines left. very fun.

I ended up getting a classic set-up so that I can go to a few places where you can't skate. I have also thought of joining a few "loppet" for fun so the classic set-up is of course better for that. I'm thinking about the cookie race, but I will have to see how my first lesson goes before I make up my mind.

We were thinking of doing the Cookie Race as well. 42km or 21km?

Where did they add the bedroom?

I would like to do the 42km....if my lessons go well that is. I'm signed up for a double lesson in Golden on January 7. Mike is taking a telemark lesson on the hill that day so we'll be out there. I don't think registration is open yet.

They added the bedroom next to the 4 bunk bedroom at the opposite end from the bathroom. You can't access the room from inside, but have to use the patio to access the room. Initially the plan had been to use this room for the custodian, but they changed their mind and will use it for guests. They are working on expanding the space for the custodian's hut as well.
