Which ABS pack did you get? They are heavier for sure but after awhile you kind of just get used to it and it start feeling like a helmet or seatbelt in that you feel that you can't ski without it.

We both upgraded to Vario's this year. The zip ons this season are much nicer than the previous ones. I like the ability to swtich between different size packs. Between the two of us we have a 15L, 18L, 25L 40L and 50L.

Nice. I was looking at that one too. How is the weight distribution in the new pack compared to the older packs. Do you notice a difference with the bulk of the weight sitting closer to the back? My pack feels like it almost has a bit of an outwards pull. I'm not able to let it rest on the hips at all and it always pulls in the upper straps.

Weight distribution seems fine although I am comparing to a different pack than the ones you have. The weight is always going to be a little high because of where the cannister is. It seems better in the longer pack than the shorter pack. I don't have any problems getting it on my hips.
