All,

Early this morning the third edition of our electronic newsletter was issues. We hope that you are finding it informative and a "quick read".

There are three items that I wanted to call your attention to:

CHAMPIONSHIPS CHALLENGE
This spring OUSA is issuing a Championships Challenge where orienteers can win special shirts for participating in at least 3 A meets between now and May.

OUSA STORE
The OUSA store is open for business. As not to compete with our orienteering retailer friends, we sell OUSA logoed items. Be sure to go to orienteeringusa.org and click on "Store" at the top of the home page. A small commission on everything you buy goes to support the mission of OUSA.

APRIL IS TEAM USA MONTH
Last but not least, April is Team USA month. While OUSA is now supporting Team USA again, the team is responsible for raising about 50% of their costs. Let's get behind the team.

Have a good evening.

Glen, will the WM 5-day count toward the challenge? 2 A-meet races, last weekend in May - currently in sanctioning I believe?

Re: CHAMPIONSHIPS CHALLENGE

Does it matter how many A-event days are run during those 3 events?

...can win special shirts...

Will there be a drawing for the shirts?

At least one event per event weekend, entered in your age group. So you could conceivably just run one race during the weekend, as long as it's your 'championship class'.

All entrants who run in at least three of the a-meet weekends per the requirements above will receive a shirt. From what I understand they will be different based on how many weekends you attend.

Yes, but the Western Mass 5-day is on May 26-27...well within the "between now and May" guidelines. Surely those that make this their third event will be eligible for a shirt?

To help those left coasters with shirts, we'll throw in another A meet within the announced timeframe! Details shortly.

I've been told that, assuming the WM5D is sanctioned, it will be added to the list for the Challenge. And since it is a benefit for the ski-O team, it will also be added to the list of events that's it's hoped will be organized by clubs to help the teams, even though April is the primary focus month for that effort.

Good flexibility be shown....

I couldn't find a link to the newsletter under "News" on the OUSA web site...(and I had accidentally deleted the email). Here's the archive, for anyone else who doesn't have the newsletter email message: http://us2.campaign-archive2.com/home/?u=7dfa55c4c...

Links to all newsletters are being added here:
http://orienteeringusa.org/news/2011/general/orien...

The direct links also show up in the twitter feed, twitter.com/orienteeringusa

Since they'll go beyond 2011, I'll create a new path called /news/e-news

but it's not changed yet.

The link to http://orienteeringusa.org/news/e-news now has all the e-newsletter links, and will updated as new issues are released. You may want to bookmark the page so you can find it next month.

Thanks for all of your questions and postings. Thanks also to Janet for the links:

The program was set to last until West Point, but that was before the new WM 5 Day and Vladimir's A meet were announced. I am all for including those events (once sanctioned).

I will post updated information within the week.

Also to Guy...no we won't be drawing for shirts. The key idea is that when you particiapte...in 3...4... 5... 6... you are rewared for this.

Hope that this helps.

Have a good day.
