Yep, "Follow Me - Shanghai". But don't look on Tero's site, it's available exclusively right
here.
They really should have got a double in to do the sprinting -he looks very uncomfortable.
Great camera work! We need more O videos of this quality to promote the sport. Who was the jock-stuffer following? He probably should have at least looked like he was looking at his map. And I don't know about that extra device he was using - I hope he was DQ'd.
extra device
...maybe he was doing some kind of 'radio orienteering' like they did on the Czech music
video a little while ago?
It's a typical story - he got to the circle easily, but not having read the control description he didn't realize he was on the wrong side of the building.
I'm glad someone could make sense of it. I wasn't sure what was going on.
Awesome. We should Tom to do more promo work for us :)
I'd love to see Tom in a walk off against Ben Stiller.
Hmmm... even with downloading to disk, I am unable to play that file. Any chance for another format?
Too hot for your computer maybe? Tssssssss!
Hmmm, it looks like the only format I can export movies is QuickTime. So... it's either view it with QT or see if someone wants to convert it. (I wouldn't bother.)
I love the controls added, you just kinda see a blur on the screen as he shoots past them... I had to play it twice to figure out what it was :)
For those who are tempted to click and watch because you think it's an actual orienteering video, sorry to disappoint. It's just an edit of the scene from Mission Impossible III where Tom Cruise's character runs through Shanghai, guided by a co-worker over the phone. The scene in the movie shows GPS dots on a map of the city.
When I saw the movie (almost a year ago) I thought that scene would make a great 'Follow Me' spoof. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm waned and by the time I got around to it I discovered that I had neither the appropriate video editing software nor the time/patience/know-how to do it the way I wanted to. So, what I'm left with is what I managed to do during a long layover. ;-) Probably much more amusing if you've seen the movie!
Oh, right, the whole point of this explanation is that I'd love to see someone with real video editing skillz do this scene up!
It got many thumbs up at the TNT viewing this evening.
A friend of mine set a training where we ran around mapless and got directions over a two-way radio from a partner who had the orienteering map. Good training actually. In Calgary parks and snow, though, not Shaghai rooftops.
