I will be putting on some informal training at Paugusset this Sunday. Streamers will be out by 9.30, you may start earlier if you wish. Sign up below or e mail me - it's not binding but it will give me an idea of maps!
More details to follow on courses, once I've dug them out of my other computer.
IT will be on Saturday, as Chenritzo is the only one to express a preference. Tapes will stay out so if you would prefer Sunday, I can send you maps to print.
any chance to run on saturday? or is there another training?
I could hang streamers if you like.
Yay! Thanks, Becky! I'm there.
Poor me, I guess I'd better help with the gender balance.
Thanks to all who came last Sunday - I have a ghetto Suunto compass someone left behind.
Christian, (Christian? Are you there?) would the following weekend suit you in Westmoreland?
I think that ghetto compass is likely the WCOC one Anna was using.
John will add one to the boy's side
Okay! There is a corridor exercise, a control pick, and a simplification exercises. The latter two can be done with trails for those who are relative beginners, and without trails for the experts. The corridor has no controls so can be done as an early warm up if you want to start before 9.30.
Can anyone suggest a good place for a late lunch afterwards?
1) King's Breakfast and Lunch (they close at 3pm... is that too early for us?)http://www.yelp.com/biz/kings-breakfast-and-lunch-...
2) Peruvian? Not sure if it's vegetarian friendly. Didn't see a menu online.http://www.yelp.com/biz/empire-of-the-incas-restau...
Never been to either place.
My Place in newtown serves decent pizza and salads. their beer selection is quite good.
I thought you lived in Bethel.
I have quite a beer selection, but no pizza.
I still don't have pizza.
The Lauretano pizza looks great! What's not to have?
Becks, I'd like to come on Saturday, aiming to be there by 9:30, bringing Bill Duncan as well.
Rick and I plan to attend.
This is great everyone, I look forward to seeing you all!
Rick & Susie - if you have any maps from old meets with courses on, could you bring 5 or 6? Just for people to have back ups with trails on n case they go astray. Thanks!
Hope there are lots of nice new shirts present! Sounds like a fun day.
Final call for maps to be printed! I will be going to do them at about 2pm. Any later than that and you'll have to print your own.
Put one more in for the westchester contingent.
Hannah, we probably have space for you if you want to carpool.
Okay, doors closed. E mail me at becky dot carlyle at gmail dot com if you still want to sign up, and I'll e mail you the files.
This weekend no good for me, but have a great time.
Neil, sorry for the delay in replying... Westmoreland next weekend is good by me. I can hang streamers starting at 5:15am (hey, I have a toddler who's up early).
ndobbs - looks like there might be a couple of other cadets coming along now (we'll see what they decide), so I'll just plan on driving up on my own so they all have a ride if they come. Thanks for the offer though!
Becky, thank you! Had a great time out there today. Sorry for the wait at the end.
Not a problem, my car was nice and warm very soon after leaving, and my Starbucks hot choccie was even warmer. Nice work at trying the difficult map!
Thanks again, Becky! We made it out of the woods okay, tho' our O skills needed a bit of dusting off. Good practice!
Only 5 weeks to the classic champs meet...
That was fantastic. And yep, thanks and sorry for the wait.
Lunch at King's was top notch nosh.
You might not think it was nice work after you see my quickroute...but hopefully you'll get a laugh.
Thanks, Becky. That was really fun, and very, very difficult.
