| vmeyer: | I broke down and bought the yoga and HC DVDs yesterday. I can't wait to see what you all are talking about. |

| Bash: | I hope you won't be disappointed after all the build-up - usually that's what happens when people talk about stuff too much! I haven't tried other yoga DVDs, so I really can't compare. But I've done enough sit-ups over the years to be certain that the Hard Core workout is the toughest and most thorough set of exercises I've ever done for my core. It took me three tries to get through it the first time, but your Boot Camp background should help you get through it just fine. |

| vmeyer: | I have never done or seen any yoga, so I have no expectations there. And I figured the HC would give me some directed activity once I discontinue BC. So, I don't think I will be disappointed. |

| Bash: | I enjoy yoga on those days when I want a bit of a break, but I don't want to take the day off. It helps me work on flexibility and balance, and there is some small strength benefit as well. Some of the stuff Caron does in her live classes has required more strength than the DVD, so I suspect that yoga can get a lot tougher than what I usually do. |

| urthbuoy: | I am horribly amiss at doing yoga over the past year, but mainly due to the costs for classes (in relation to all my other costs mostly). Anyway, just saying I'm a firm believer in the benefits of yoga for developing an athlete. For me, I would say it is the best injury prevention out there, allowing you to bring symmetry to your body's movements among the other items mentioned.
Now I'm feeling guilty, maybe I should get back in a class... |

| vmeyer: | I am excited about giving the yoga DVD a try.
When Kissy first brought up the HC DVD a year ago - back when we were running in Prince William Forest, she said Caron doesn't do all the cutesy stuff like Denise R. That was my main requirement. And now, I want to see if I can actually do it all, or not. Maybe I am just a poser. ;) |

| kissy: | Oh, I am a total convert. And to give proper credit, I first read about the DVD on Bash's log. It is definitely a good core workout, and I agree on the yoga one. It's good to do when you want to do something but nothing too strenuous. |

| urthbuoy: | I should add an interesting news story around here.
Apparently in Quesnel, students were taking yoga as part of the "our kids are too fat (but call it something nicer)" program. Some parents (as Christians) are complaining that their kids shouldn't have to take other "religions" in the schools. We'll just name it - ignorance. |

| Bash: | That would be really funny if it weren't so very sad. |

| Leanimal: | As someone who treats athletes and non-athletes who manage to injure themselves from sitting too much I have to agree wholeheartedly with urthbuoy when he says it one of the BEST forms of injury prevention - not to mention the associated mental benefits that come with it (focussing on what you are doing rather than everything else in your life). I encourage people to try classes even if you plan on doing it at home most of the time because a qualified instructor can give you valuable info on how to hold different postures. Then you can take that info with you when you practice at home.... just a thought. Plus it's nice when the room smells good and there are candles around and other people in the room to bring the energy level up. |

| vmeyer: | The local fitness center has a one time "Try Yoga" session coming up, so I may give that a try.
My concern with Lea's description is the part about the "room smells good." Scented things and I don't get along. |

| gail: | All the gyms around here are concerned about scents bothering people. So there have always been candles burning, but none that smell. |

| Bash: | And we're just in a big room with a tile floor and fluorescent lights, so I guess it's widely variable. Now I'm thinking of adding a candle when we do it at home though! |
