Discussion: getting WRE ID

One of the athletes I coach, a junior, is entering a WRE abroad and does not have a number yet. The entry form for the event asks for the WRE ID number. If she doesn't supply an ID, will she just be assigned one automatically as a result of entering this WRE or does she need to apply to get one?

It will be automatically assigned when the organizers submit the results.

It would help Ray the IOF number cruncher if she'd at least write CAN in place of the WRE ID... absent country info, the software takes a guess for the country of the athlete based on the stated club (Ray has a worldwide database of clubs), and if there's no club info available, then the assigned country is just the country in which the WRE is taking place, which is not what you want.

We've kept one CZE runner as a souvenir among our inactive runners :)
