Hey, I've got a strange problem with SportsTracks at the moment, and was wondering if anyone has encountered it before or have any possible solutions.
When I try to import data from the Garmin it says I don't have the Garmin Communicator. I'm not sure why, it worked less than a week ago. But, I've tried to install it, and uninstall and install again, but it doesn't seem to work. At the end of the download it says that the Communicator is not properly installed. I think I may be running an old version and the new one won't install properly, because I can import into QuickRoute still.
I also tried updating my Garmin Drivers and my Windows Media Player (which is apparently relevent?). I'm not really sure what the problem is, it could be as much SportsTracks as the Garmin, but I don't know.

All feedback is appreciated. thanks!

I experienced issues with importing data directly from my Garmin for at least week now. Since I still automatically export all training runs into Garmin Training Center software, I exported workout into flat file, then imported workout from file instead of directly from watch. I did not bother reporting since work-around did not add too much time and actually I felt it was slightly faster to import from file vs. directly from watch.

I tried importing it directly into Quickroute, which works, and exporting a gpx file, but the HR got lost along the way (I could possibly fix this), but also if I stopped my watch once for even just 20secs to tie my lace while out on a run, it regarded it as 2 seperate sessions. I could add the times and distances, but it meant I could only get one route, for only half of the run. Also, this method added a lot more time and effort.

Unfortunately I don't use the Training Centre, but I might download it if it will solve the problem. You don't use SportsTracks though, do you? It was just a similar problem with the communicator?

Stopping your watch because you stopped to tie a shoelace seems... obsessive.

I stop my watch more than obsessively...
At a traffic light mt hand compulsively stops my watch, I have to actually think about not doing it. But on the other hand, it also compulsively restarts the watch, which is good, I never forget to start my watch. That said I almost never pause it while orienteering.

perfectly normal.

There's a website that shows how to tie shoelaces so they don't come untied (~99% of the time), which involves sending the loop through the hole twice before pulling tight. Then it's mostly easy to release unless caked with mud and then dried. :-)

Garmin has this "probably worthy of banning" feature called autostop. Works great when biking. But lately running in urban settings I have been using it.

Basically you set it so that every time your speed goes under certain threshold the counter stops.

interesting tangent.. I used to stop my watch all the time, now I don't. It's interesting to see what happens to your HR as you are stopped.

But nobody knows how to fix the original problem?

... so how do you tie laces so the brairs don't pull them undone? Got a link?

Well, instead of stopping your watch, can you instead take a split when you stop and again when you start again? Then you'll have one continuous run, but can subtract off the even-numbered segments afterwards (more work, but maybe it will meet your needs).

ColmM - if you think it is a bug then you can let Ken know by filing it on here http://www.attackpoint.org/editdevelopment.jsp

The bug isn't with Attackpoint, so I don't think that will help Gil, but thanks.

I might just try that JJ, or I'll see about not stopping my watch, but, you kind of need to do something during stuff like intervals I find, maybe I'll try lapping.
