Hi Ali--can you remind me what ankle brace you're using so I don't have to scour the AP discussions. I had an inquiry about one and wanted to recommend something in addition to Active Ankle and I think yours is different. Thanks.
All the cool kids have one! ;)
Woo, indeedy, that's the one!
I hope I remember to ask you about this at the US Champs - the amount of time I've spent taping my ankle recently begs a solution like this, if it's sturdy, yet flexible enough...
So I really like this brace, my issues with it on Sat were because I've used it so much, the plastic stay of the brace was able to migrate to a position that wasn't actually helpful. I need to sew a bit back in so the stay can remain in place, or get a new one, this one has lasted > 1 yr with me basically orienteering it every single time I've gone out!
But in general, I don't mind running in these braces at all, and they definitely help ankles from the normal sprain, i.e. turning outwards. I much prefer to tape!
I also found this brace to offer the right amount of support without limiting my foot movement too much. I hate when they feel tight and I don't feel like I can stride out all the way. I also wore it every day when running (of all kinds, trail, road, orienteering) for about a month. It was always comfortable, although I did develop a bit of a callus where it hit the arch of my foot, but it wasn't painful.
Updating the link (store seems to have broken the old one), in case I need this :)

The links are broken again. Which product is the right one?

Think it's this one: ORTHO Ankle Brace Aequi by the description, but they changed the colors so it looks unfamiliar!
The design seems to have changed as well as the color. The 2012-ish versions had blue sticks on the instep side that slipped into a pocket near the sole below the malleous. The new version looks like the stiffness is part of the "sock" design.
