That's not a bad time at all for your first red! What happened at 12?

For some reason I drifted on my bearing down the hill to 12 and ended up at the stone wall to the south of 12. I knew I was at that wall but then I did not correctly follow the re-entrant up to it and very slowly got down on the trail. Once I was on the trail I was able to relocate rather quickly and decided to use the trail junction west of 12 as an attack point. I was moving at a better pace then, but I still managed to have some confusion because of the extra mountain bike trails and ended doing a little extra loop around the hill north of 12. I lost a ton of time, but I was glad that it didn't throw me off too badly for the rest of the course. It's funny because at the top of the hill PG had just passed me and I slowed a little because I didn't want to follow. But I think that threw me off course a bit because after he disappeared down the hill I tried to pick up my pace a little and maybe didn't pay enough attention to my compass. I also note that that the section I tried to cross was very flat with only the one hill to check off along the way, so I don't think I read the terrain very well either on the way.
