Hope it goes well! I'm sure you will knock their Socken off.
Ahhh yess. the 'just in time' approach to scientific talks. I know it well. ;-) In the old days that weren't that long ago you needed to have your slides made ahead of time. Usually a few weeks. the 'just in time' approach is much better. Good luck.
The 'just in time' approach works well in every aspect of life ;)
Thanks thanks! It went well, I think, at least I got relevant questions, so at least some of the audience must have understood something... but yeah, gosh last-minute...
>got relevant questions
my first keynote talk was a few years ago in a huge auditorium in Wageningen, Netherlands (same town that Canada liberated Holland in btw). Anyway, I was nervous and even though prepped early was still doing just in time stuff. Got the talk done and then waited for the questions. I guy from Italy stands up and asks a question in this huge room about species decomposition. Good question I thought and since I was expecting a question on that I showed an extra slide I had and went on a 4-5 minute overview of these extra findings - using up the entire question period. At the end of the answer I looked out to the several hundred people and they were all just staring at me. One colleague was shaking his head. Hmm, I thought. Why no good vibes here? That is odd. Dry mouth syndrome sets in. Legs get shaky and I walk back to my chair. I turn to my friend and ask how it went. "Umm, Mike yeah the dude asked about species composition - not DEcomposition and you can have summarized his Q in less than 10 seconds", he said. Oops. :-)
Oopsie! Ah well, but 100s, that's lots, I had eh, maybe 25? Just a little talk really, but still wanted to present well, and now, at least have a complete talk on this stuff!
