Natasha: The new issue will allready be in circulation starting tomorrow! Can't wait!

#  Posted 2007-01-31 09:20:12
Barbie: Crap! I am not even half way through the last one! I'm in trouble!

#  Posted 2007-01-31 09:28:20
MW: I think my subscription has expired with the last issue, but I don't know because of the way they changed the number of issues last year.

They haven't answered my e-mail, and the online subscription service has been "temporarily unavailable" whenever I've looked over the past few months. Not really sure how to get the new issue.

Maybe the editor will notice this forum and do something about it (he sighed wistfully).

#  Posted 2007-01-31 09:31:28
Sarah: Hmm, I thought my subscription expired before the last one but I still got it.

#  Posted 2007-01-31 13:14:26
Old_Fox: I'm having the same troubles with contacting them, and buying my subscription for 2007. I have a skype address for Jan, but he is never online :( I got an answer to my email, but it wasn't very helpful!

#  Posted 2007-01-31 16:58:57
Boojums: They're not winning points here. I haven't been able to renew my subscription, either.

(Barbie lives!)

#  Posted 2007-01-31 17:00:41
feet: I have moved but they do not want to accept a change of address. I'm paying my old roommates in MA to forward it.

#  Posted 2007-01-31 18:24:58
j-man: I've had pretty good luck with getting them to change my address (at least in the past.)

I haven't signed up for this year (due to laziness) but I've also heard it's difficult to do.

Any ideas how to do this?

(Maybe they have a fear of success...)

#  Posted 2007-01-31 20:18:37
speedy: I tried to sign up in December, but couldn't find any working online resources. As of today same luck with subscription, I mean no luck at all. Can someone point out a working online resource?!

#  Posted 2007-02-06 20:21:57
BorisGr: Well, Orienteering Today seems to have unveiled a new online subscription page. It's at https://subscription.orienteeringtoday.com/subscri...
If someone tries it out, please let us know in this forum if it works!

#  Posted 2007-02-06 21:07:28
Hammer: I just tried and it worked (on the 2nd try). Note that in the contact information you need to include the name that is on your credit card as there is no spot to include name on credit card on the payment screen. So if your credit card name differs from the name you normally use (like mine does) then the transaction will not go through.

#  Posted 2007-02-06 21:11:14
feet: Your credit card is under Hammer? Or is that the name you go by normally? :P

#  Posted 2007-02-06 21:13:00
Nev-Monster: I hear he's still riding the coat-tails of the more famous Dr. Waddington at McMaster.

#  Posted 2007-02-06 21:37:19
j-man: So what's the all-in cost? It's 60 Euros for the mag and how much to NorAM?

#  Posted 2007-02-06 22:48:44
speedy: Hm, it still doesn't work for me ... will try later.

#  Posted 2007-02-06 23:24:41
Hammer: >Your credit card is under Hammer?
Nope. I go by Mike but thats my middle name - just like Swampfox.

#  Posted 2007-02-06 23:33:50
j-man: And j-man, for that matter.

#  Posted 2007-02-06 23:35:39
jjcote: j-man doesn't go by Mike anywhere that I'm aware of.

#  Posted 2007-02-06 23:37:28
j-man: I still try to keep some secrets.

#  Posted 2007-02-07 01:40:24
BorisGr: Swampfox is a funny middle name to have, Hammer.

#  Posted 2007-02-07 01:57:40
mindsweeper: At least it's spelled correctly.

#  Posted 2007-02-07 08:41:25
fossil: I subscribed online many months ago and nothing ever happened. I don't think my card was even billed.

#  Posted 2007-02-07 09:07:44
Boojums: I've tried the online subscription page a few times today, no dice.

#  Posted 2007-02-07 19:28:53
JDW: I assume many of you got the following e-mail as well.

Dear subscriber of Orienteering Today

Orienteering Today has been through a rearrangement. The makeover has been successful, and the new norwegian owner and publisher SPORT of TODAY is very pleased with the new look.

More maps and pictures is one of the biggest differences from the earlier versions. Also articles about exotic orienteering travels and trainingscamps from all over the world will take a bigger part in the magazine from now on. But it will still contain plenty of material about elite orienteering, together with articles about history and technical aspects of the sport.

In a few days you will be registrated into the new subscription system. When that is done you will get a mail from us, with a description on how to finish the registration. Please registrate with correct information! All old subscribers will get a 15% discount this year if they finish the registration in the subscription system on our website before 15.02.2007.

The next Orienteering Today will be send out 20.02.2007. The magazine will be published 6 times this year, one magazine every second month.

Kind regards,

Audun Bjerkreim Nilsen

j-man: Any additional word? I see that Øystein is plugging the product, too. http://folk.ntnu.no/oysteios/

#  Posted 2007-02-09 19:00:34
speedy: Is he taking international orders?

#  Posted 2007-02-10 02:05:06
cjross: Isn't Bill Jarvis the Canadian distributor now?

#  Posted 2007-02-12 18:29:58
_tom: keep up the good work O-Today.

Nevertheless, I've got a few remarks. I'm not a native english speaker, but I hope that next issues, will be proof-read thoroughly, avoiding stupid copy/paste bugs, missing words and half finished sentences...

Speaking about content : adding elevation gains when comparing choices on map would be appreciated...

Tom

#  Posted 2007-02-12 18:58:06
j-man: Any luck? I got the second email from the publisher last week. Thinking the order form was good to go, I went and tried to give them money, but no avail.

Has anyone used the O-Today form to submit payment?

#  Posted 2007-02-12 19:05:12
hillanddale: It has worked okay for me in the UK.

#  Posted 2007-02-12 19:06:17
Boojums: I haven't received any second email... maybe they're taking their time?

#  Posted 2007-02-12 19:25:00
speedy: I've tried several times during last week (including today) to use online subscription system, but no luck - it says "No Transaction Posted". And I have no idea what e-mails are you talking about. I didn't receive any.

#  Posted 2007-02-12 19:33:50
bubo: I received my first e-mail last week - same day as it was postrd here on AP. No second mail yet - but it would be nice to get it in time to get the 15% discount (before 15.02.2007).
The online subscription form suggests that existing customers log in with username and password - of which I know nothing...

#  Posted 2007-02-12 19:40:14
hillanddale: The 2nd email gave me the password and username.

#  Posted 2007-02-12 20:30:05
biggins: I tried it today (with the username/pw from the second email) and it went through ok.

#  Posted 2007-02-12 20:31:32
j-man: I think hillanddale and I got the same email.

The username and password contained therein is what I used to log in. But, things broke down when I tried to do the transaction--then, the same problem as with speedy.

I wonder if they have some problem (which they are blissfully unaware of) in accepting payments from NA?

Rather than re-invent the wheel, perhaps we could direct someone from the mag to read this thread? Has anyone been in touch with a human over there?

#  Posted 2007-02-12 20:32:55
j-man: biggins pre-empted me. Ok -- I'll try again.

#  Posted 2007-02-12 20:49:43
speedy: I didn't receive any e-mails from them and I do have my login/pass after I tried to subscribe first time. Don't understand what's going on ...

#  Posted 2007-02-12 22:17:27
BorisGr: Still waiting for email #2...

#  Posted 2007-02-12 22:28:47
Boojums: Okay, I logged in with the username and pw I created last week and was able to complete my transaction. Unfortunately, since it wasn't the username that I have yet to receive via email #2, I don't think my discount came through for being a previous subscriber. But at least it worked.

#  Posted 2007-02-12 22:54:08
MW: I created a username and password, and my credit card has been billed $78.10 (ie 60 euros). Unless they do a cross-check on the names of former subscribers I don't expect to be getting my 15% discount.

Europe still has a ways to go in terms of on-line services, by comparison with the US. Love the magazine, but the move to Norway doesn't seem to have made much difference to customer relations.

#  Posted 2007-02-12 23:33:55
speedy: Ok, I'm in, finally. And the only problem was - I was using MC and couldn't go through. For my big surprise, VISA card went through!!! Congratulations!

#  Posted 2007-02-13 16:28:15
gruver: I'm not going to re-subscribe until I get the rest of my 2006 magazine. I understand thru the website that issues 4-6 are combined, but I haven't got that yet. Or a reply to my email on the subject. Pity, as its a great magazine.

#  Posted 2007-02-13 16:38:54
jwolff: I didn't get email #1 but I got #2 and even the 15% discount. Most important would be to get the magazines though.

#  Posted 2007-02-13 18:19:08
BorisGr: I got both emails and the 15% discount, but jwolff is right. We'll see if the magazine comes...

#  Posted 2007-02-15 10:47:13
blairtrewin: I also had trouble with Mastercard but got through with Visa. I thought my sub extended to 1/2007 but this didn't seem to be recognised by the system (although the 15% discount is effectively a free issue anyway).

#  Posted 2007-02-15 17:23:12
BorisGr: I, too, failed with my MC first and then succeeded with the VISA. Weird.

#  Posted 2007-03-11 21:40:40
JDW: So... Has anyone in North America received the 1st issue of 2007yet? I haven't.

#  Posted 2007-03-11 21:59:47
Boojums: Yep, I've got mine in NM.

#  Posted 2007-03-12 00:15:27
the_latvian: Yes, I received mine in PA 2-3 days ago. The fans will be delighted to hear that the orienteering history section has survived the change of ownership and is still going at a full pace.

#  Posted 2007-03-12 00:38:13
Spike: Mine arrived in KC on Thursday.

#  Posted 2007-03-12 00:59:13
blairtrewin: I got not one, but two, issues in the mail on successive days - am wondering whether the system treated my sub as a new sub starting 1/2007 on top of my existing sub ending 1/2007. Has this happened to anyone else who had subs continuing into 2007?

#  Posted 2007-03-12 03:26:27
_________: Mine hasn't arrived. Maybe I should subscribe.

#  Posted 2007-03-12 04:05:00
Uncle JiM: Mine hasn't arrived yet, but that is because Orienteering Today will not accept my Mastercard, and wont talk to me about any other way to get the money to them.

#  Posted 2008-02-26 20:39:06
JDW: From an e-mail I received this morning....

"We have today posted Orienteering Today 1/08.
Shipping is said to take 4-40 days?

This time we have sent it in an envelope to avoid some minor problems we had last time?"

My money is on 40 days. Of course, I'm still waiting for the previous issue...

#  Posted 2008-03-06 18:58:31
Old_Fox: YES!

Got mine today, well packed and in good form!

Wasn't quite the exciting issue I was waiting for, but better than nothing :)

#  Posted 2008-03-06 19:39:07
Ratlaf: Oh the anticipation... I wonder how much long until they make it across the pond?

#  Posted 2008-03-06 20:11:47
JDW: Chris, I had an envelope from them in the mail last night, but as I was on my way out of the house, haven't opened it yet. I suspect it's the previous issue though as my address was handwritten...

#  Posted 2008-03-06 20:39:45
BorisGr: Got mine today!

#  Posted 2008-03-20 05:17:26
Spike: 1/2008 showed up in my mailbox today.

#  Posted 2008-03-20 05:18:07
Boojums: Mine, too. Guess AZ isn't as hard to get to this time.

#  Posted 2008-03-21 01:56:41
Ratlaf: Hey! Where's mine...?
