Colin Kirk was involved with orienteering in Canada for over 40 years. He passed away earlier this week. He was the Executive Director of Orienteering Canada for 30+ years. Colin did many things to develop orienteering in Canada including dedicating enormous amounts of time to developing juniors in the sport. There's a tribute page on the Orienteering Canada website at www.orienteering.ca/2012/09/colin-kirk. If you have a favourite story or memory to share, please do.

That's terrible news, condolences to his family. I didn't personally interact much with him as a Western junior, but whenever I had to deal with the COF he was the friendly personality on the other side of the email communications.

He was truly one of a kind and a tireless supporter of orienteering and junior development. We will miss him when we go to meets in Canada. Deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

One of my first contacts with Canadian Orienteering many (35+) years ago together with the St.Croix family. I will remember his always positive attitude and smiling face.
