kadley: Welcome back -- snooze time? Can't wait to hear your tales of the Russian ski-o scene.

We've got 2' of snow on the ground here. Unfortunately the last 10" came down after the Bombi broke. Maybe the starter finally went kaput, maybe something worse. Parked sitting on the dam right now.

Went to a grooming clinic at the Saratoga Biathlon Center last Wed. Got a lead on groomer extension wings. Will be perfect for widening the groomer to 6'. Also got an invitation to come try the biathlon -- looks like a lot of fun.

biggins: I'm not sure what time zone I'm in, so its apparently never snooze time now...

Great, so not only did you break the bombi during the one big snowstorm of the year, but its also parked in the middle of the trail? Didn't they cover that at the grooming clinic?

Actually the new plan should be for you to narrow the groomer. 2.5' is enough for everything, everywhere.

kadley: Wait, we went out for a snowshoe and I brought the keys along just for fun. Sure enough -- it started right up. It had been low on gas and stalled, then when I filled the tank it wouldn't restart. Maybe flooded? A couple days and it's ok. As mom said before I tried to start it, "stranger things have happened"!

So I guess I need a special groomer for those tricky sections between the rocks and uphill at 45 degrees? Maybe single file showshoes?

biggins: Yea 45 degrees would be ok, but what are you going to do for the hard trails?

The snowmobiles they were using only had a single ski in the front, so the whole thing was exactly the width of the tread in the back. It could fit through some pretty tight places. I'm sure there are pictures of them somewhere.

kadley: Next we need to get snow fencing to make a maze...looks like the opening are too big, however. Maybe lanes a meter or so wide.

Got extension wings for the groomer. Will make it 6' wide plus the flaps. So should do a nice wide skate lane in two passes, or a ski-o trail in half a pass.

biggins: yea and the walls should be chainlink fence. or concrete.

can the bombi drive on one tread?

kadley: I like chainlink fence with holes just big enough to swallow the tip of your skis.
