| ebone: | You pervert--you're proud of having an unbalanced life! :-) |

| OnYourLeft: | the dream of a balanced life is not one that i try to achieve personally. if your life is balanced you will become average in all aspects of your life because you are giving equally to all things... focusing on none. what remarkable person do you know who doesn't give fully to his passion? keep it up roger! =)
yes - i'm single and unemployed.. sort of. |

There's a difference between being committed to something and sacrificing onesself for it. To "give onesself fully" to something is to give up perspective and the responsibility of exercising judgement. It's not a way of life, but an escape from life--a temporary euphoria, like feeling love drunk, from which an eventual return to reality is inevitable. Most people who acheive great things have two feet firmly planted on the ground. It is only from an understanding of the importance of the humbler ingredients of a healthy life that one can go on to make great contributions (to onesself or to society). Besides, home improvement is not Roger's passion. Anyway, I'm not against having a passion (obviously). I'm just saying that Roger is proudly addicted to being extremely busy (apparently for its own sake), and that has to do with his psychology and nothing to do with having a passion. |

| ebone: | By the way, the above is directed as much or more toward myself than toward anyone else. I certainly have at least my share of stuggles to lead a balanced life.
Roger gave me the low down on his current home ec. project, and I'm very sympathetic of his motivations. |

| roschi: | HART: sort of single or sort of unemployed? :) speaking of ones passions, you sure do follow them straight-lined! hey you wanted to get in contact with me about the coach and ultra thing... right!?
BONE: the bathrooms look phantastic! i do have a tendency to overbear myself with projects... not necessarily a weakness when i look back at what i ve done at work... the balance comes trying to not get to stressed out about it... thanks for the thumbs up! |
