Registration for the 2013 Vancouver Sprint Camp (Feb 8-10) is now
open
The sprint camp is a great Vancouver tradition. Can you handle ten events in three days?
This year we only have 20 spaces available for billeting so sign up quickly!
Bam. Done. 1st one officially signed up! (Finally!)
Non-real orienteers rejoice!
Oh, the video isn't there anymore! Sigh.
I mean, open sheds all you want. But don't expect to find a control in there. Ask the other Patrick.
Is one race really in a pool?
Any tips to help me learn/improve as much as possible at/before this event?
If aqua-jogging is good enough for Thierry and Emily K, it's good enough for us :-)
Tips for success - study sprint map symbols, especially for different levels!
In years past, it's just the "oh my god I can't believe I ran that much today so I'm gonna just sit here in the hot tub with everyone else" session.
Ditto on reading up on ISSOM. If you haven't read much about the urban symbols, it's good to know about building passageways, tunnels, bridges, olive green, and the definition of the word "uncrossable".
6 of the 10 sessions this year are urban, so understanding the symbol set would help a lot.
If you are too late for billeting, we got a discount for a local motel:
Lions Gate Travel Lodge
1 bed = $54+tax per night, 2 queens = $64+tax per night.
To book, call 604-985-5311 or 1-877-999-5311 and quote "Greater Vancouver Orienteering Club" when booking.
Rates are available for Friday 8th and Saturday 9th of Feb only.
There are only 5 billeting spaces left! Sign up quickly if you want to stay with a member of GVOC!
