urthbuoy: But don't be afraid to sand it down afterwards. That's the second step in the process. Sand it right down till it's flush and smooth.

Stinky Pete: Did you use fabric? You are supposed to use a paintbrush and put down a layer of resin, then a layer of glass, finally a layer of resin on top.

BTW how did you get a hole in your boat???

urthbuoy: Make some cool story up about how you were getting shot at by border patrol...

roschi: I am just amazed by how little you are training... and figured this is the most inapropriate discussion section to place it in... once you re back in Seattle Uncle Roger is going to start you on a spring training schedule... gee

ebone: Well, I hope Uncle Roger is a faith healer, so he can mend my injury.

Chris, I purposely didn't sand the patch very much, because I wanted a stout rock guard on the bow, since I often run it aground on pebbly beaches.

Glenn, yes, I used two layers of fabric (plus some smaller pieces), which I saturated with resin before applying it. How did the hole get there? Besides the aforementioned running aground, it has slid off and hit the ground a couple times when I've been loading it on my car. I am at least the third owner of this boat. The friend I got it from paid about $25 for it at a yard sale but discovered that he didn't especially like kayaking.

Stinky Pete: I had a bike fly off the top of my car before but never a kayak

ebone: The boat and cartop carrying pads were wet with rainwater, and the car was on a bit of a side slope.
