Junior & senior team is invited for a week of training tacked onto the 3-day B meet in Arizona in February. Other advanced orienteers are also welcome. This will happen if enough people can make it. Erin will be the head coach and arrange the exercises.

More info:
One possibility would be to have the training at the beautiful (grassy, open) Kentucky Camp and environs southeast of Tucson. I've found a place we could stay; if we could get 36 people (!) then it will be $25-$30/night/person including breakfast at a very nice inn, with 4/room.

Even more info:
Lest juniors worry that by not making this camp, they are missing out on a rare training opportunity with Erin:
Erin will be working with juniors at most or all A meets.
We're also hoping to hold several training camps around the country the first weekend of March, coordinated by Erin.
And there is likely to be a training camp later in March or April in CA, and opportunities on the east coast as the Junior Standing Team starts gathering preparing for Europe in May, June. We'll be posting a draft schedule soon...

I am interested, tho' I don't quite qualify as "advanced". I could be low-maintenance, or maybe even helpful.

This terrain is featured at 101 maps you shouldn't run before you die

They may not be planning on using Catalina...

He's just pre-complaining, that's all.

Actually... the B-meet is at Catalina. Fortunately the new map is approximately 532x better than the old one. That doesn't make all of the terrain magically awesome, but at least now you know where it's less awesome. :-)

I'm planning to be in Tucson that week and would be interested in some of the training, either as participant or helper. I am also planning to do some long runs in the mountains and anyone up for some adventure is welcome to join.

Anyone who doesn't go to Catalina is a wimp. And the training afterward is on cactus free, paradisical Kentucky Camp and environs; occasional coyote and border patrol agent, but mostly a good wake-up from winter. 5 days of training.

OK, great, we have access to the maps, and accommodation at $30/night, and someone to organize the trainings, so I think we can do it. Just let me know if you're coming. Really tasty area to stretch your legs and focus on contours.

Are the locals still there?

occasional coyote and border patrol agent --- this is pure poetry. Let me add in same vein "an occasional illegal alien crawling in the bushes, and occasional meth lab sites, but mostly abandoned"

I suppose that is where Oliver Stone filmed his U-turn.

Pinky is getting boring
