You do not need to tweet. It will turn your mind to mush and you will start seeing phantom white creatures all throughout the woodlands. It's true, there is a correlation.

I fear for the eagerly-awaited tales from the crypt.

I shied away from the tales last season even though I had been changing some details to make them as anonymous as possible. Don't expect that to be different this year.

Twitter came about because I wanted to have an easy way to see if there was any new news on the OUSA website. When there is, it is still pretty well buried, but they send out a tweet. And then a search on my last name discovered that my niece tweets, so that in itself made it worth signing up.

I'm sure there are other (easier) ways to get notified when there is new news at OUSA, but I just haven't figured them out.

You've already done the Twitter thing, so it won't be any easier, but you could also use an RSS reader. An easy one is http://reader.google.com. Then you can "subscribe" to any site that provides a link to an RSS feed, usually available via a button that looks something like this:

Then you just go to your RSS reader and it will show all the latest headlines, from all your subscribed sites, with links to them. The OUSA site has an RSS feed, though I think it'll be exactly the same as the Tweets. Most news sites and blogs have feeds, so you could also add Spike's blog, Team USA blog, NYTimes, NPR, and even Attackpoint Discussions (scroll all the way to the bottom of the Discussions page). There are also other RSS readers out there, but I've never organized my life enough to get settled into anything.

I use an RSS reader at work but I've never thought about doing it at home. I guess I should get with the technology. I mean, geez, if PG can do it ...
And I don't (yet) do the Twitter -- been planning on getting an account & subscribing to some other accounts of interest -- but when I publish a blog post at work it automatically sends a tweet (internal intranet only) and sometimes I notice that people have tweeted about it. Weird newfangled stuff...

How do I subscribe to the Attackpoint RSS feed? When I click on the RSS icon at the bottom of the discussion thread, I just get a page saying something about the XML not having any style. Story of my life. No style. I wanted to embed the Attackpoint AR discussion in my website, but I totally don't understand RSS feeds, so if I can't just click on the icon and make it work, I'm dead in the water.

You're asking me? You realize how old I am? You need to talk to someone about 40 or 50 (or 60?) years younger. :-)

I think Cristina alerted me to Google reader, which I used until they shut it down (or maybe they just shut me down?). I now use InoReader. It might be a RSS gizmo, might not, but it shows all the headlines of a bunch of websites and blogs I'm interested in. Haven't tried to use it for AP, because I just go there separately.
