My achilles have been worse than useless all year. Last week I did 7 days straight of yoga (75-90 min classes) and today went for a 55 min run (could barely do 20 mins before). No achilles pain at all. Kind of confirms my theory that achilles issues start in the lower back/hips.

yeh im with you there bear. i'm havent done a burst of exercises/yoga like you but i do my physio back exercises 2-3 times per week and if i let that slip within a fortnight my calves start letting me know!

Got in trouble with the Achilles just after New Years, not sure the reason, but what helped for me is ice after a run and then just try to keep them warm with ex. Wool sooks. Another trick is to use some additional heel lift - an additional inner sole which lift the heel 5 mm or 10 mm. And yes also use some bogus warming creame....
