Here's a note for the AOWN thread:

At the OLOU Sprint Start #2, there was an outhouse. As I approached the start, I noticed a rather agitated Eastern phoebe fly out of the building (the upper parts of the walls were open). I figured it had probably built a nest somewhere inside, so I checked the roof and walls (Phoebe's frequently build under cliff overhangs, under concrete bridges, in culvert pipes, etc).

Well, it turns out that this phoebe wins an award for the smelliest homesite, having built its nest down inside the outhouse tank (which by the way was full to within two feet (.6 m) of the top. Well, I'm just glad I hadn't seated myself & gotten settled before Mrs. Phoebe decided to fly out. That could really have been an AOWN moment! I sure hope the young phoebes are ready for sustained flight when they leave the nest!
