As some of you might have noticed, we have started an online TV channel for orienteering content over at World of O (woO-TV - http://tv.worldofo.com ). In this regard, I'd like to hear what kind of video report people want to see from important races (and I then think about content made for orienteers) - or if they are not interested at all... I was at Spring Cup in Denmark last weekend, and tried to make an interesting report from the race. (see http://www.veoh.com/videos/v337233wKQjQaNh?c=wootv ). I know it is very far from perfect - but look past the bad video and filming technique, and tell me what kind of content you'd like to see. I have drawn the following conclusions by now:

- route choice analysis with comments from the runners is right to the core about what orienteering is about. This is always interesting.
- interviews: yes - but not too long. 45-60 seconds for a runner is enough.
- I like the running clock when runners come into the finish, as it gives you a feeling of how the race developed.
- some results should be displayed
- 10 minutes is a bit too long for internet use - it should rather be 3-5 minutes. If longer, divide it into several shorter videos - e.g. one for each category. Of course for viewing in high quality in full-screen, a longer report is OK, but not too many will care about more than the first 3-5 minutes.

Any comments? I also invite all of you to make your own reports from WRE etc. - I really think there is a lot of interesting orienteering to see out there. Or am I wrong here?

Not at all. I think you're absolutely right and an internet channel like this will definitely help to get Orienteering more exposure, especially here in the US. I'll be a regular visitor.

I definitely like the race report videos and everything you mentioned above would be applicable to them. I also like the videos made by Thierry showing the leg he's on and how he's running through the woods.

I think a good balance between race analysis and a few non-race clips like Thierry's or even just of Orienteering culture, etc. would make for a popular internet tv site.

if the audience is O people - clip is awesome, but for others it would be boring I guess..
Maybe few moments from the forest would help to show how nice O is..

For now, the plan is to make something mostly for O-people. But, for example, the report from the women's long distance at WOC 2006 got on the "most popular of the week"-list this week at Veoh.com, so I guess quite a few non-orienteers will watch it as well. But with only one camera it is not that easy to make these kinds of productions...
