On a technical course in the green hills of Pleasant Hill, Erin Schirm, the U.S. Junior Team coach, edged out long-term U.S. Team member Eric Bone of Cascade OC by 18 seconds. Will Hubsch took third. On the Women's side, Kat Orekhova continues return to shape with a two-minute win over Team Canada's Carol Ross. All enjoyed the magnificent California weather, technical shorter courses, and the wonderful hospitality and prizes by Road Runner Sports. Results will be posted very shortly for today's race; MeOS worked almost without a hitch, however I can sure use pointers on cleaning up the results and in making things more automatic next time.
The overall Day Two results are
here. I will post splits for Day Two to AP this evening, and Day One downloads are being handcrafted into an AP-digestible format.
Day Two results are now final. Splits are on AP and WinSplits, with RG and Day One splits still to come.
Matej Sebo: Living up to the hype!
...And coming east for the Pig!!
I should point out that Matej created a full-size, full-detail, A-event-quality map for BAOC, mostly by himself last year, within a very short period of time.
My point is that although there is ample precedent of juniors winning A event days on Blue (Joel Rauschenbach did in 1998 at the age of probably 15), I don't know of any who created a multi-square-km A-quality map by themselves.
I remember that 1998 meet. I was the humbled runner-up (he got me by five minutes).
