terraloco is coming back to Red Rock with 3 and 6 hour point-to-point rogaines on Sunday, November 17. Saturday night camping available on the map! The start is on the east side of the highway, finish on the west side, and it will have great highlights and some new areas on both sides.

I am trying to work with LAOC folks to get their Vasquez meet scheduled on Saturday, November 16 (great technical terrain that has been used for A-meets in the past.) It's only an hour from Red Rock.

Preregistation is already open on the event web page. You can see last year's Sunday course there.

Hey Rex, what's a point-to-point rogaine? I think you mean "a visit-checkpoints-in-any-order course with the start location different from the finish location", but many orienteers think of point-to-point courses as traditional orienteering courses with a defined checkpoint visitation sequence.

Thanks for asking. The start and finish are about 2 miles apart with the mandatory highway-crossing checkpoint in between (you go underneath where the wash crosses under it.) The checkpoints you can get in any order.

Maybe it's there on the web site and I missed it but do the 3 and 6 hour courses use the same controls (i.e. the 3 hr is therefore considered harder) or does the 6 hour version use different controls further afield?

Everybody gets a map with the same checkpoints, which will be difficult for a team to clear in 6 hours, and impossible for a team to clear in 3 hours.

And apologies to LAOC for jumping the gun.
