blairtrewin: Noticed that there were fire weather warnings current in Norway and Finland - can't imagine that happens too often in the first week of April. Have there been any fires?

robw: Not that i have seen, but i havent exactly been keeping a close eye on the local news the last few days. There is that much water around at this time of year i cant imagine anything could burn - this time last year we were using candles as controls out in the forest for night training - not exctly fire safe but no one considered it to be risky. It isnt quite as wet this year though.

bubo: Forest fires of any magnitude are rare in Sweden. There was a major fire last summer (the largest ever in Sweden) but compared to Australia I suppose itīs really 'small potatoes'. As far as I know you may well have single forest fires covering areas as large as all of Sweden.
Present fire warnings show that itīs mostly a risk of grass fires. Forest fires would have to wait until things get a lot drier in the summer.
