5.50 is a awesome pace! If you want to see slow you should see me running - my bestest time ever on 5kms is 30mins 33 seconds :)

Will you be coming to light-pole orienteering on Thursday night?

whats that?! - will also preface it with a ie see how my legs are - I get shin splints really quickly with running so if I want to push the bush events and 1 run a week I think that's about all I can sustain - that said its early days atm so I can trash myself a bit.

yes I know 5:50 is alright - but I used to be comfortably sub 5 much closer to 4:30 and that wasn't when I was pushing myself or training for running... hence my disappointment - that said I don't know if I have seen below 4:55 since knee surgery so will be interesting to see where I level out.

Fletch runs this awesome orienteering and running training group every Thursday evening. All the coolest and best orienteering people go to it.

At the moment Fletch gives us maps with light pole controls in the 'burbs and we run to light poles and onwards for navigation and run training purposes. I'd suggest taking your smart phone with so you can put your route on route gadget afterwards.

Come along and give it a go. I had shin splints last Thursday so I just walked it off and cut down my ideal course. I can forward you Fletch's email with all the details if you give me your e-mail address. Its heaps of fun and you will need a torch because its after work hours :P

Cure for shin splints -

1. Go see Jacko, because he's awesome.
2. ???
3. Run...err...I mean, 'profit'. Or maybe just run.

Also, if you're just getting "shin splints" as a one off and you can walk it off? It's not shin splints. :)

"All the coolest and best orienteering people go to it. " - by offering me an invite you realize your calling me cool haha

yeah my phone is rarely more than a metre away from me sadly - it is an extension of my arm.

sure sounds good - glimmer23 @ yahoo.com

yeah generally when i talk shin splits its like no running for a month or two once they start up before i get back to anything reasonable - so really try to avoid them like the plague.

I am sure its just because my runners are really really old and I probably need to go to athletes foot and get them to assess what shoes best - but meh - sucker for punishment - I will get to it sooner or later.

If I get pain in my shins, knees or back, I will stop running immediately just to try not to make anything worse. As they say - best not to move from the hurt to the agony stage. They also say 'best not to listen to Juffy', although I have no idea why. Juffy is certainly a source of knowledge.

well yes - pain is your friend. it tells you when something is wrong.

but a good course of action you take :)

Oh god, I'm officially old. "A source of knowledge"? What am I, a friggin' library?

Young people these days. No respect.

What's a library?

I better google it... (For Juffy - google is where youngens get knowledge these days)

:)

I was going to say a 'quagmire of knowledge'... Library's are known for being boring. Meanwhile in a bog, mud gets stuck to your feet and before you know it you're sucked in and can't get out! Eeeeek!

So Juffy... Are you going to Cairns in June by any chance? :P
