jjcote: Yeah, and don't even think about your client list for tomorrow.

#  Posted 2007-04-12 02:57:32
barb: Ah, that means J-J himself, doesn't it?

#  Posted 2007-04-12 02:57:38
cmorse: don't you mean Friday's list?

#  Posted 2007-04-12 03:04:36
cmorse: Ahh.. much clearer now - I thought you were referring to an even larger population of kooks coming out on the 13th.

But with a winter storm warning for tomorrow, maybe some of the kooks will cancel and you can go for a longer jaunt in the crappy weather....

peggyd: Wow, glad I finished our taxes last weekend -- less chance we're kooks. ;-)
Filed electronically and already received our state refund (by check, cuz I'm old-fashioned). And I just want to add, to whoever came up with it, thanks for the adoption credit!

Cristina: Well, this obviously doesn't hold. I'd filed my taxes and spent my refund before the end of February and I'm certainly not *that* unkooky.

jjcote: I wouldn't have held off for so long, but I had to wait for my K-1 form from Swampfox (not his fault — he has to wait for forms from various companies, and they drag their feet).

feet: Painful it was, too.

ebuckley: Don't remember the last time I filed later than February. I can never convince my employer(s) to withhold less, so I'm always eager to get the money back.

Of course, this year I also need to file for a non-profit, which I've never done before. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do, but I've got five days to figure it out.

PG: I even filed last week, first time in a while I haven't gotten an extention, so I wonder what my kook score is.

Eric, last time I looked, if by any chance your non-profit has less than 25K in gross receipts, you don't have to file. Otherwise, have fun. Even though 990-EZ isn't hard.

Swampfox: I'd certainly defer to Peter's advice, but add that if you expect to exceed 25k in at least some years, you may actually find the record keeping easier to keep if you file every year anyway. On the other hand, if you *never* expect to exceed 25k, then filing makes no sense.

jjcote: Sounds like Peter has some advice for you, too, Swampfox. Because at one point today, while looking at a K-1, he made a scowling face, and said something like, "He did what?".

peggyd: I too usually file in February, but this year we had to get Max's SSN ... the woman at the US Embassy in Moscow last year told us we'd get it automatically, and even though other parents told us that wouldn't happen, I figured we had plenty of time to wait and see if it did. It didn't. And then all of a sudden it was February and I had to go sit at the Social Security office for a few hours.

ebuckley: Well, my sister was pretty popular and as a result we are well over 25K for fund raising. That's a good thing for ALS research, but it means a bit more work on my part.
