I put some on my Facebook and will be happy to email full-res to anyone who asks. Many thanks to Mal Harding, Julie Pohl, and Les Stark!!

This was one of the most technical rogaine courses I've run. Those who think that a rogaine cannot ever provide the "proper leg" challenge of a point-to-point course are mistaken. This particular course setter tried and succeeded, creating at least a dozen off-trail, handrail-free legs that involved all of {route choice, coarse navigation, fine navigation} and placed a large premium on navigational skills.

Hickory Hop mini-Rogaine was also a very technical rogaine course (Route Gadget map). What was great about it was that we used an O map that was well done and accurately represented the available "passageways" through the thicker green that covered much of the map, though I didn't always find them all.

That said, kudos to the west-coast crew who provided a similar challenge in Oregon. Looks like a great course, and congrats to Eric and Vlad.

If we tried to use an O map for rogaining in this state to make it fairer for route choice, we would be shot.

The Oregon rogaine happily used a government topo map, with minimum corrections (vectorized and printed with inkjet on nice paper). It was good enough. There was a lot of detail shown with 3 m contour interval, and most of this detail was correct.
