Flying Scotsman: Glad you made it in 1 piece - told you it would be good and I hope you got the views too.

roschi: we got good enough views.. but the descent was amazing... dry-ish and superb trails...

DARTvg: Glad you had a good time, sorry to hear about the ankle. I have never ridden the Dungeness, but run and hiked all around there. I need to hit it this year.

franklinwood: How'd you manage a 3 day weekend? We had 4 day Easter Weekend, then this past weekend, we had another 4 day weekend with Välborg and Labour Day. Of course another 4 day weekend is in two weeks. Swedes know how to live.

Sounds like some good mountain bike training.

Sometimes we have to get lost to be found.

Stinky Pete: franklin,

Are those paid 4 day weekends? If so I may move to sweden.

roschi: Glen,
they are... this is all across Europe.. US just has not caught on to it yet...

#  Posted 2007-05-03 02:23:43
franklinwood: Welcome to Europe Glen. If you think that was a lot, note that Swedes get 6 weeks minimum vacation time and that doesn't include those 4 day weekends. Plus they have most of July and August off from work. All is paid. Of course the drawback is it takes them a week to make a decision it takes Americans a day to decide, if that's a drawback.

I love the days off but I rather be back in the NW.

FrankTheTank: Sign me up. Which language is easiest to learn? I would ask which country has the most beautiful women also, but I might get in trouble with the mrs. on that one.

PS Back to the orig topic. If any of you guys roll up to Dungeness again let me know. I only live about 5mi from the hood canal bridge...

#  Posted 2007-05-03 09:39:24
roschi: yes we will totally do it again!
and btw its danmark, the country with the most beautiful women.... and buenos aires, the city with the most beautiful women....

#  Posted 2007-05-03 09:55:47
Stinky Pete: who pays for all the free time off???

#  Posted 2007-05-03 22:03:38
franklinwood: When I moved to Sweden, I was told all the women were beautiful, blond and loved American men, but I don't see it. They are pretty and have long hair, but many colors. Of course they love the outdoors too.

You pay 50% taxes to go to social welfare. Education and healthcare and many other benefits come from that. Swedes aren't Capitalists like the US. That has good/bad results. They live every aspect of their lives by "lagom" which means not too much and not too little.

Stinky Pete: Can an evil capitalist retire there and just milk the system.. I mean can i work hard, earn my egg here and then move there, live grand off my savings, get a part time job at Jack in the Box(all jobs are part time right?) and get all the socialist benefits?

Taxes are based on income correct? Once i retire income is not relevent. I just need a stupid job and work only the minimum required hours doing only the minimum effort that keeps me from getting fired? I can also have my normal post race recovery periods that keep me from working. And the stress of training my limit my hours.

Ahh just think, instead of my wife supporting my AR habits i can get the state to do it. now that I think about it, why wait until retirement. My kids are going to be entering university soon. I assume that's covered.

where do i sign up and where do I get the airline voucher to have a look before i commit. This is going to be great. Does anybody know of any fjords that are available?

BTW the women are really not an issue since I'm already married. i am assuming my wife won't go for the open marriage thing available there but I'll try.
