Tough to go hard and keep navving well enough. What did you win?

$200 mt designs voucher and we got a $50 mt designs voucher as a spot prize - pretty good, much more useable than some years

She did a fantastic job running, riding and nav work :-)...I did kinda save us at one point though when i did look at the map from heading South to Albany when we should of been heading north to check point 9 :-) thats why i reckon all team members should be given a map so they can help and feel more part of the race;see where your going..It's near impos to look at someones elses map while riding your mtb and running...On rogaines all members have maps. The maps we had probably cost 50cents so not much more for them to print or copy up...Your thoughts race director Tooms

I would have preferred having two sets of maps for the team, that way I would have a map to take home and show off. :)

Teams split up if you hand out multiple maps - it's a default way of keeping together. Much less chance of a team mate thinking "i reckon its this way and blundering off".

After lots of practice I used to tell team mates my plan for the leg, what we were looking for etc so that it wasn't all up to me. Takes practice though. Did lessen the mistakes. In Punter events most teams don't want multiple maps - it's only orienteer-types who do - yes, even you are a good navigator in context Evo ;-)

Personally I'll prefer multiple maps - but only with other top-notch navigators.
@tt - go up to the director and ask for a left over map, easy.

That's a good point. I'm not too good at explaining what I'm doing with a map so I bet Ann may have been a bit frustrated with my 'we go to a track junction and then go left for a bit' and 'its a spurr on this map but I can only see a huge gully!! FMlol' I wish I did think of asking for a second map!!

I am shocked that the Evo/Saz combo won. I never would have picked that!

Hey i've got a picket fence next to my name on that event :-)...undefeated

On the 2 maps idea i'd just like if anything to follow where we are going and maybe have an input now and then + you can learn the nav side better when you have a map.Sometimes you just feel like a sheep dog..I know the Ar i did with Fletch,Blackie and R.I.P Wade Blackie and Wade felt bored at times just following behind not have an input and not knowing where they are going...

You were just lucky I wasn't competing this year. Last two years I have been undefeated too :P

Although it's five top threes (three wins) from five starts so dilutes the wins a bit. Amazing they've been bringing that race to Perth for seven years now.

Evo - after that race I learned to embrace the role of sheep far better than I had ever managed before.

Yes tRicky but who beat you at those events in the first few years :-)..They picked the wrong day this year i think as it was fathers day..

You did well Fletch in the caff race,we won and as wel all know naving at night is probably 3x harder on a guess than during the day.
